DnD One-Shot Overview

Player Character

Creating a Character

This adventure will occur with level 3 characters. Any class and race, except for Dragonborn, are permitted. Any background and alignment will work fine, as long as the character will have motivation to help the army or the village.

Examples of (simple) characters that would work:

  • An Orc Fighter that has been working in the town as a guard
  • An Elf Rogue, that despises Oskiris, but is willing to help the townspeople that he grew up with
  • A Human Wizard that is working with the army of Oskiris and has been helping with the logistics of moving the supplies to the front line
  • A Human Bard that is trying to write stories/poems/etc. about the war

While creating your character, I would appreciate you letting me know your background, class, and race, just so that I can mesh them into the opening more smoothly. I am willing to give a “magical” item of your choosing (from this list) or you can take an extra feat. Just let me know ahead of time, so that I can make adjustments as necessary.

House Rules

  • Changes to potions with rolls
    • Any potion that has a roll can be used in three ways:
      • Consumed in a single action, you get the maximum roll value (ex. 1d8 is always 8)
      • Consumed as a bonus action (ex. 1d8 is rolled, but you can still use your action during combat)
      • Given to another PC or NPC as an action (the receiver must always roll the 1d8, and the giver loses their action)
  • Changes to Crit damage
    • On a Crit attack, you take the max roll of your attack damage, and then add it to a regular roll of attack damage (Normal Roll + Maximum Roll)
      • Example: If a sword deals 1d8+2 damage, then on critical hit it would deal [1d8+2] + 10 = 1d8 + 12

World

The one-shot will be taking place on a continent named Eorine. It is a land made up of four main kingdoms, each ruled by one the “Four Original Races”. These races are Humans, Elves, Orcs, and Dwarves. While other races also roam the lands, and may even have their own network of communities and towns, none are in the same league of power as any of the aforementioned races.

This one-shot takes place close to the end of the Second Age, a time that had been marred by two different wars. The Orcs and the Dwarfish kingdoms are battling one another on the Eastern side of the mainland, while the Humans and Elves battle on the Western.

The adventurers shall find themselves in the small town of Riven, on the Northern side of the Human Kingdom of Oskiris. This is near the front line of the war between the Humans and the Elves. A small group of soldiers from Oskiris’ army has been coordinating with the local townsfolk on how best to get supplies from the town to the front line…
